3 Can’t-Miss Activities at The Florida Aquarium
This underwater experience puts you face-to-fin with Indo-Pacific marine life like sand tiger sharks, hogfish, a Māori wrasse, blue speckled grouper and spotted unicorn fish — and if you’re lucky, perhaps even a loggerhead sea turtle named Shelldon! Anyone 10 years of age or older can participate in the exploration of the coral caves in the 15-foot deep Heart of the Sea habitat. With no swimming involved, this underwater opportunity allows people from all walks of life – even those not well acquainted with water – access to the wonders of the aquatic world.
Support The Florida Aquarium’s commitment to saving marine wildlife with a 45-minute interactive behind-the-scenes experience with The Florida Aquarium’s African black-footed penguins.
The program focuses on species biology, natural history and critical conservation efforts to save the endangered African penguin. During the experience, you will have the opportunity to meet the birds and may have the chance to touch their soft feathers. You can ask questions to the caretakers and will be allowed to take a photo with the penguins free of charge.
Enjoy a cruise along the waters of Tampa Bay amongst native wildlife like various bird species, bottlenose dolphins and more! Climb aboard the Bay Spirit II, a 72-foot catamaran, where one of the aquarium’s naturalists will guide you along the bay for a 75-minute cruise.
